It has been one hundred years since the last International Eucharistic Congress has been hosted in Sydney.
This historic moment will be an opportunity for pilgrims from across Australia to be renewed, transformed, and sent.
Today, the next step on this journey begins as The Secretary General of the International Eucharistic Congress, Bishop Richard Umbers, officially announced the dates.
The 54th International Eucharistic Congress (“Eucharist28”) will run from 24 September – 1 October 2028.
"In 2028, here in Sydney, we will especially celebrate this tremendous gift God makes of Himself to all people," he said.
Bishop Umbers expressed his hopes for the Congress, that "Eucharistic renewal be sparked within the Church in Australia and that many will be drawn back to the sacrifice and the mystery that is present at the celebration of each and every Mass."
